Ambassadors in Sports Programmes

AIS Nigeria's purpose is to bring the presence of God into the world of football. This is done through the following five strategies:

1. Church Based Ministry: Through establishing partnerships with local churches, AIS are able to train and equip churches in sports ministry. This process is facilitated through the AIS church-based internship program. AIS train and deploy interns to churches, and then support these interns as they help the church develop sports ministry. The models of ministry churches can develop include, forming teams, hosting sports camps and clinics, impacting local schools, and running tournaments or sports days.

2. Hope Academies: Hope Academy is an elite soccer program run in prisons and underprivileged communities across Nigeria. Potential Academy players undergo a selection process and ones accepted are developed in their football, faith and future. Through the academy curriculum, the aim is to develop a generation of leaders who will begin to positively influence their families, communities and the nation of Nigeria.

3. Coaches Development: To influence young people positively, AIS has two primary strategies to train, equip and support coaches across the country.

1. Ambassadors Coaches Fellowship (ACF). The aim of ACF is to create a community of coaches so they can be supported and encouraged to impact their teams and communities.

2. TREC (Training Resourcing and Equipping Coaches). This is a course to train church based coaches in sports ministry and to equip community coaches to become more effective in their coaching.

AIS volunteer coaches. Through the above strategy it will be possible to mobilize volunteers to assist with AIS and church-based outreach programmes.

4. Ladies Football: AIS aim to impact ladies’ football at every level to influence and shape the development of ladies’ football in Nigeria. Our goal is to encourage and develop players and coaches to fulfill their God given potential. AIS have women players, clubs & Hope Academies based in a number of states around Nigeria.

5. Professional Soccer Ministry (PSM): PSM is a model of ministry that seeks to support individual pro-players and football clubs through welfare support, life skills programs, and by equipping players with faith to effectively follow Jesus on and off the field. Despite enjoying success on the field, many players struggle with life away from the game. By building relationships and developing appropriate programs, PSM aims to help players develop mindsets and strategies that will help them to be successful beyond the final whistle.
